Elissa Brinckman (B.Ed)

Owner & Autism Consultant

Based in Brisbane, Owner and ASC Autism Consultant, Elissa Brinckman, has over 25 years experience working within the education sector, supporting people with autism spectrum disorder across all ages. Elissa spent the first 6 years of her career teaching in and around London, at a wide range of specialist school settings. During this time early in her career, Elissa was honoured to take on the position of Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo), and gained much needed leadership and advisory experience before returning from London in late 2004, where she commenced a 12 year career at an autism specific organisation, located in Brisbane. During this time, Elissa worked across a range of roles, including class teacher, outreach teacher and transition teacher. Elissa also took on a number of leadership positions during her time, including, Lead Teacher, Acting Principal and Team Leader. In late 2016, Elissa was approached and asked to support the establishment of a new full time school for young people with autism. In her role as the founding Deputy Principal, Elissa established the autism-friendly frameworks for the school and until December 2020, provided support for the families, staff and of course, the young people. Elissa was honoured to be a finalist in the Queensland College of Teachers Excellence in Teaching Awards in October 2018 for Outstanding Contribution to School Community and works to continue her contribution to the wider community, through the services offered here at ASC.
